In Northwest Indian traditional beliefs, Raven is highly respected for bringing the moon, the stars and the sun to the People.  Also known as "The Trickster," he is shown here imitating a tribal dance in full ceremonial dress, wearing the legendary Chilkat blanket.

Raven is of very special meaning to me, as he represents one of the two great divisions, or moieties, of the Tlingit matriarchal society.  My particular family clan is also Raven.

Raven Dance won Best of Show in the North Kitsap Art Show in Port Gamble, Washington, July 2000.
