The single greatest threat to the survival of the polar bear is the rapid melting of sea ice in the Arctic Ocean due to climate change. Some 25,000 of these magnificent mammals can be found today across the Arctic region from Alaska to Greenland. However, up to 15,000 bears could be lost in the coming decades because of rapidly shrinking sea ice.

I have shown my little polar bear as I imagined him, clinging to a thinning ice floe.
